Right, well I’m back and well, writing this just before I fall asleep or something, so apologies if I just die half way through this blog post. I am back, I have fought, and I have conquered (sleep deprivation). Anyway, to sum it all up in one word, it was AMAZING!!! I just had the most brilliant time I have had in such a long time, it was just incredible (or incredibubble or something), but yeah this is brilliant. Lots of different things happening on each floor, different music playing in different areas, and us all enjoying ourselves and socialising, lots of drinking, and of course, me taking a trazillion and one pictures.1

1 Trazillion by this definition equates to 162.

But hey, it was amazing, though we left at about half an hour before closing because we felt we had enjoyed alot, and yeah we had, it was flipping amazing.

I’m tired and well cba to write too much more, I can’t just word it properly, but here we go, the gallery picture thingymabobby:

I think its time to actually upload the photos of my finished computer.

Firstly heres the motherboard in my cleaned case with the CPU and cooler attached.
Mounted Motherboard

Here is the finished result:
Finished System
Not exactly the tidiest result, but at least its all there. Also you might see my USB bluetooth adapter thats now stuck inside attached to my PCI USB2 card. I probabily don’t need it, but the more USB ports the merrier.

Oh but wait, it gets worse, 350W generic POS power supply, that won’t power that. Oops noob mistake, should have checked that. Quick rush for a new 600W modular power supply, fitted it in and heres the actual final result:
Finished system with new PSU

I think that result is tidier. Air can actually flow, and it runs quite well.
Hope those pics are good enough for you Skillers ;)

My Lol Tariff

Well, this post is really just a bit of a lol at what can only be called a mistake on my mobile phone providors part. What has happened is over the past 2 and a half years I have changed my tariff a couple of times and with that, the extra things that I get for topping up have changed, I guess to make sure that I stay with them.

Originally I was on a tariff that meant if I topped up £10 I got 600 minutes of calls, now I really never used this, so I switched to a different one so I would get 300 texts instead, something that I would more likely use. Last month I switched to a different one again so I could get cheaper phone calls when I use my phone. This also had 300 texts as part of the deal when I top up £10.

Yesterday I needed to top up money onto my mobile so I could carry on using it, so I put £10 on. To my suprise, instead of getting my 300 texts, I now have 300 texts, plus 300 texts from the previous deal and 600 minutes from the deal before that. Not to complain, but really I shouldn’t have all that. They told me they’d remove all the rest from my package when I switched, but instead I have it all. Not bad I reckon.

Let me work this out:
600 texts at 10p each: £60
600 minutes at 20 a minute: £120
Overall extra stuff: £180.

Really, I think this is not a bad outcome, even if it is a cockup on their part, let’s just hope it stays!

In other news related to this, I have a new phone now, a Samsung G600, and I took some pictures with it’s camera, not too bad for a camera phone I reckon! (I’m still gonna use my proper one for everything though)

Right, finally got round to building my computer, and while my Team Fortress 2 maps directory copies from one system to this new one, I can finally put the pictures of my computer being built.

Firstly, the parts that I ordered:

  • Corsair Memory 2×1GB 240-Pin DIMM XMS2-6400 CL5 Corsair Memory 2×1GB 240-Pin DIMM XMS2-6400 CL5 - £29.84
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53GHz - £75.18
  • Gigabyte S775 Intel P31 DDR2 ATX Audio Lan Gigabyte S775 Intel P31 DDR2 ATX Audio Lan - £41.46
  • Gigabyte Radeon 4850 512MB PCIE 2xDVI 625MHz/1.9GHz - £115.13
  • Grand Total: £261.61

Now, firstly my parts had arrived in a box that surely was too big for what it needed?!

And the parts inside the box:

The CPU:

45nm, “You are so small, it’s funny to me!” I believe would be the heavys reaction.

Such a big box for such a small processor?

Surely such a big box for this small processor?

Ooh it spins… hopefully enough to cool it down so I don’t melt my new processor.

The Motherboard:

Well, the processor fits on there, thats about as much as I know lol

Graphics Card:

Shiny box… let’s hope the graphics are as shiny :)

And the shiny graphics card, not as shiny as it’s box, but defnetly better than the nVIDIA 5200 that it replaces.

RAM:

2GB should be enough to let me actually use this thing lol

Ooh, maps copied :) I’m gonna now test this system and put more pics later :)
